Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world.
— Nelson Mandela

Our founder, William Scheid, spent several years living in Guatemala. As a student himself, he watched as the families of his classmates struggled to send their children to school, as it meant one less family member to earn a living. Often, education is sacrificed in order to put food on the table.

William was always grateful for the opportunity to study, but it wasn't until he returned to the States that his mission became clear.  He would help end the cycle of poverty in Guatemala, and would do so through education.

Today, the William Scheid Fund for a Better Future provides scholarships to impoverished students in Guatemala. Our hope is for these students to remain in school, earn a degree and provide a future for themselves and their families.
